MEET CRAIG

I was born and raised in Queensland, Australia, and have lived in Japan on and off for a total of 15 years. I first began studying Japanese in high school, and have now been studying it for more than 25 years. I have used Japanese professionally as a Japanese liaison manager in 5-star hotels on the Gold Coast, as an inbound tour guide for Japanese visitors to Australia, and as a freelance translator and interpreter. In 2012, I passed the highest level of the "Japanese Language Proficiency Test".

I first went to Japan as a volunteer for 2 years when I was 19 years old. During my time as a volunteer I lived in various different cities throughout the Kansai region, including Osaka, Kyoto, and Kobe, and helped with the recovery efforts following the devastating Great Hanshin earthquake of 1995. During my initial 2 years in Japan I fell in love with the country, its people, traditions, culture, and cuisine. Since then I have lived in Tokyo for a total of 13 years, during which time I travelled extensively throughout Japan, from major destinations such as Hokkaido, Kyoto, and Hiroshima, to lesser known places such as the Bonin Islands and the isolated islands of Okinawa.

When in Japan I love hanging out with the locals, and experiencing life in Japan as they do. This shines through in our small group tours as I take you to not only the famous tourist destinations, but also places where the locals go to eat, drink, and play. I'm really looking forward to seeing you on one of our fully escorted private or small group tours sometime soon. Let's experience the real Japan together!

MEET AKEMI

I was born and raised in Tokyo, and have lived in Australia for about 15 years. I have been around the tourism industry my whole life. My father used to run a tour bus company, and I often travelled with him to many different places all throughout Japan. He passed his extensive knowledge of Japan and the tourism industry on to me, and motivated me to become a fully licensed Travel Service Supervisor in Japan and embark on a 12 month working holiday to Australia. I then went on to work for a major Japanese tourism company, and have travelled extensively not only throughout Japan, but also all around the world. Some of the countries I have visited include Egypt, Turkey, Sri Lanka, England, Scotland, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Taiwan, Fiji, New Zealand, the Cook Islands, New Caledonia, Vanuatu, America, Mexico, Jamaica, and Haiti.

Together with Craig, I will do my very best to create unique small group tours of Japan that encompass all that is great about my homeland. I really hope you will enjoy Japan!
